The Hatter's Bookshop: A Literary Haven Blossoming in Princeton

In Princeton, West Virginia, a literary oasis has found its home – The Hatter's Bookshop. This beloved establishment, recently acquired by the passionate book enthusiasts Rebekah Snow and her husband, Cody Dillon, is poised to embark on an exciting new chapter with the help of the quarterly Princeton Business Works grant.

Nestled along the vibrant Mercer Street in the Grassroots District, The Hatter's Bookshop is a true haven for bibliophiles and those seeking a warm, welcoming space to indulge in the magic of literature. With a curated selection of used books, vintage vinyl records, local art, bookmarks, and an array of merchandise, this cozy bookshop offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Upon receiving the coveted Princeton Business Works grant during a meeting of the Rotary Club of Princeton, Snow expressed her heartfelt gratitude, stating, "Thank you for choosing us for this grant. We will be using it the best that we possibly can. It's an honor to speak to you about something we're really passionate about."

Since taking ownership in October of the previous year, Snow and Dillon have been tirelessly working to breathe new life into The Hatter's Bookshop. They have been meticulously reorganizing the merchandise, selling books that have sat on shelves for years, and offering customers the opportunity to trade in their gently used books for credit – a testament to their commitment to fostering a sustainable and environmentally conscious business model.

But their vision extends far beyond the confines of the bookshop itself. With plans to introduce new books to their inventory and expand the cozy sitting room, Snow and Dillon aim to create a space where the community can gather, connect, and celebrate the written word. They envision The Hatter's Bookshop as a hub for Concord University students to tutor local school system students in need of academic support, further solidifying its role as a pillar of education and intellectual growth within the community.

The Princeton Business Works grant, a joint program of the Princeton Rotary, the Princeton Economic Development Authority, and the Chamber of Commerce of the Two Virginias, provides a much-needed boost to businesses like The Hatter's Bookshop. As Samuel Lusk, Princeton's economic development director, aptly stated, "The Princeton Business Works program offers grant money to business owners who might not have it otherwise."

With the $1,250 grant in hand, Snow and Dillon can now bring their vision to life, investing in the necessary resources to create an even more welcoming and engaging environment for book lovers of all ages.
