Pacific Power Foundation Awards Over $110,000 in Grants to Support Arts and Culture in Central Oregon.
The Pacific Power Foundation has announced grants totaling more than $110,000 to support arts and cultural organizations across the three states it serves, including Central Oregon. These grants will help fund various projects, such as free arts events and education, community celebrations of cultural heritage, multilingual performances for children, and programs for Indigenous students, rural youth, and incarcerated adults.
Matt Chancellor, Pacific Power regional business manager, emphasized the importance of these local programs, stating, "Local programs like these are fundamental to the vibrancy and resilience of the communities we serve, and they nourish and inspire all of us."
In Central Oregon, three organizations received grants totaling $12,400:
1. High Desert Museum: The grant will help address K-12 educational disparities by expanding access to engaging STEM educational experiences through field trips for rural students and students from low-income families.
2. Samara Learning Center: The funds will support a program that helps children expand their imaginations and strengthen math, English, and critical thinking skills through a fantasy tabletop role-playing game. The grant will be used for scholarships and outreach to families in marginalized communities.
3. Scalehouse: The grant will fund an educational initiative aimed at providing Native students with the opportunity to create and exhibit visual and video-based artwork, sharing their diverse life experiences with neighboring populations.
