Oregon Adaptive Sports Receives $20,375 Grant from Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation to Expand Outdoor Access.
Oregon Adaptive Sports (OAS) has been awarded a $20,375 Quality of Life grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation National Paralysis Resource Center (NPRC). The grant is part of the 2023 Direct Effect 2nd Cycle Quality of Life grants, which awarded a total of $1,271,125 to 59 nonprofit organizations that empower individuals living with paralysis.
OAS will use the grant to fund their "Moving Mountains" project, which aims to expand the capacity, impact, and reach of their mission. The project includes developing a new adaptive ski program in Southern Oregon at Mt. Ashland, as well as expanding programmatic capacity at Mt. Bachelor and Hoodoo Ski area, with a focus on serving individuals living with paralysis. A portion of the funds will also be used to acquire a new state-of-the-art adaptive mountain bike to further expand outdoor access for individuals with disabilities.
Pat Addabbo, Executive Director of OAS, expressed gratitude for being a grant recipient, stating, "This grant is not only a recognition of our organization's dedication but also a testament to the collaborative efforts of our staff, volunteers, and supporters who tirelessly work towards our mission."
