North Carolina Awards $1.4 Million in Grants to Support Economic Growth in Eight Rural Counties!
Eight rural counties in North Carolina have been awarded a total of $1.4 million in grants by the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority to support economic development projects. The grants, which range from $25,000 to $500,000, are tied to business expansions and are expected to create 270 new jobs and generate $365.6 million in private investment.
Seven of the grants, awarded under the Building Reuse Program, will be used to support various projects:
1. Boiling Springs: $25,000 to help Hannah's Coffee open a second location, creating five jobs and investing $37,369.2. Lexington: $200,000 to assist Millwork Brands in moving into a vacant building, creating 27 jobs and investing $1.2 million.3. Lenoir County: $450,000 to support InfinityLink Communications in establishing a new facility, creating 51 jobs and investing $46.5 million.4. Swain County: $25,000 to help Wise Guyz Grille open a fourth restaurant, creating five jobs and investing $352,250.5. Burlington: $100,000 to support the expansion of Matthews International's facility, creating 14 jobs and investing $4.9 million.6. Stanly County: $90,000 to assist Flexrtol in expanding their building, creating 11 jobs and investing $329,645.7. Spencer: $75,000 to support the expansion of Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers, creating seven jobs and investing $2.1 million.
The eighth grant, awarded under the Industrial Development Fund – Utility Account program, will provide Thomasville with $500,000 to extend sewer capacity to Nucor's new steel product manufacturing facility. The project is expected to create at least 180 jobs and bring in $350 million in investment, with 150 jobs and $310 million tied directly to the grant.
