LegalZoom Partners with NBA for $3M Fast Break for Small Business Grant Program
LegalZoom, the leading online platform for small business formations, has teamed up with the NBA, WNBA, and NBA G-League to expand their annual Fast Break for Small Business grant program. This year, the program will award $3 million in grants and services to support small business owners and emerging entrepreneurs.
The Fast Break for Small Business program will provide $1.5 million in financial grants to 150 existing small business owners and $1.5 million in products and services to 3,000 emerging entrepreneurs. The initiative aims to help small businesses access the capital, tools, and expertise they need to start, run, and grow their ventures.
Dan Wernikoff, CEO of LegalZoom, emphasized the importance of supporting small businesses, especially in light of the challenges they have faced in recent years. He expressed pride in partnering with the NBA to contribute to the growth and success of these businesses.
NBA Champion and two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, who recently announced his own small business, Improbable Media, has partnered with LegalZoom to support the program. Along with two-time WNBA Champion Kelsey Plum, Antetokounmpo will appear in a new LegalZoom TV campaign to raise awareness about the ease of starting a business using LegalZoom's services.
Since its launch in 2021, the Fast Break for Small Business program has granted $1.5 million to 150 small business owners and provided nearly 4,000 small business owners with free LegalZoom services. The program has impacted entrepreneurs from 48 states, with 92% identifying as people of color, 60% as female-owned, and 72% operating in NBA, WNBA, or G League metro areas.
Applications for the Fast Break for Small Business grants are open from now until September 13, 2024, at www.legalzoom.com/fastbreakforsmallbusiness. Grants and services will be awarded throughout the current NBA and WNBA seasons. LegalZoom is working with Accion Opportunity Fund, a leading nonprofit small business lender, to administer and manage the distribution of grants.
