DC Offers Over $19 Million in Grants to Support Small and Large Businesses!
The District of Columbia is providing a significant boost to small and large businesses through several new grant programs, totaling more than $19 million in available funds. To help business owners navigate the application process, D.C. will host a Grant and Grow Expo at the MLK Library on Monday.
The grants aim to create amenity-rich communities throughout the city by supporting businesses in various ways. The six grant programs include:
1. Downtown Recovery Grant: Encourages businesses to expand or move into vacant spaces downtown.
2. Retail Small Business Grant: Provides tens of thousands of dollars to help existing businesses renovate and grow.
3. Neighborhood Prosperity Fund: Supports businesses in areas where unemployment is above 10%.
4. Locally Made Grant: Assists D.C.-based manufacturing businesses.
5. Commercial Property Acquisition Fund: Helps businesses buy their own buildings and storefronts.
6. Family Fun Destination Grant: Supports nonprofits focused on providing family-friendly attractions downtown.
The grants are not limited to downtown businesses; funding opportunities are available for businesses in all wards of the district. By attending the Grant and Grow Expo, business owners can start the pre-qualification process, and if their applications are approved, they could receive grant money as early as April.
